Ouija Board lands 3 people in hospital

Three young adults were hospitalized for showing signs of blindness, deafness and hallucinations after playing with a Ouija board in south-west Mexico.

Paramedics were called to a house in the village of San Juan TIacotenco where Alexandra Huerta, 22, was playing the Ouija board game with her 23-year-old brother Sergio Huerta and 18-year-old cousin Fernando Cuevas, according to the Daily Mail.

Ouija boards generally have the letters of the alphabet, numbers and other symbols printed across them, along with the words “yes,” “no,” “hello” and “goodbye.” To use them, individuals hold a small object that moves across the board to different letters or symbols to create a message. Some people associate the board with spirits or demons.

Near the beginning of the game, Alexandra Huerta began growling and acting like she was possessed and in a trance. Sergio Huerta and Cuevas also started hallucinating and showing signs of blindness and deafness.

The Huerta parents said they had called paramedics to help the three friends after being rejected by a local Catholic priest. The parents said the priest did not want to perform an exorcism because the three young adults did not attend church regularly.
